Add a SummaryPoor Goat. He’s feeling pretty downtrodden at the moment. You would too if you had to compete with someone like a Unicorn for attention. When Goat rides his bike to school no one notices him thanks to flying Unicorn. When he brings marshmallow squares (“that almost came out right”), Unicorn makes it rain cupcakes. When he tries to do a magic trick, unicorn turns stuff into gold. “I can’t follow that!” Goat’s content to mull over the situation alone, until Unicorn comes on by. First Unicorn cannot get enough out of Goat’s goat cheese pizza (unicorns can’t make cheese). Then he gets wowed by Goat’s hooves (they’re cloven). And then he starts wondering what it would be like to do stuff like play soccer without destroying the ball. When all is said and done, it may well be that Goat and Unicorn have a lot in common with one another. Maybe they’ll be friends after all.

Comment
Add a CommentThe book is told from Goat's point of view and he's clearly jealous of Unicorn. However, he begins to change his mind when he and Unicorn meet and Unicorn thinks Goat has some awesome attributes. Colorful, cute story to talk about jealousy, friendship, and believing in yourself.
While I found the the story fun, I am put off by the title of 'Unicorn Thinks He's Pretty Great' because the story is that Goat feel like LESS when he compares himself to Unicorn.
Unicorn is just being unicorn, as he should be.
3.5 stars
Goat is jealous of Unicorn but, as it turns out, Unicorn is envious of Goat. Even though they are different, Goat and Unicorn become friends and are stronger as a team. This is a fun book to read aloud with an important message for children.
Okay, spoiler alert - Unicorn is pretty great, but turns out Goat's not so bad himself. Your kids will get a confidence boost with this super fun book.
I dig unicorns and I think they are pretty great so I read this book. The moral of the story: many times we see the greatness in others but not ourselves. I'm glad unicorn thinks goat is pretty great too and together their greatness complements each-other.
Hilarious and a pleasure to read as a parent. If you have a sense of humor, I absolutely recommend it
Good little story about not judging a potential new friend too quickly
Granddaughter picked this book - based totally on title & cover, since she is smitten with unicorns. We absolutely could not and would not read this weird little book to her. Very strange...
UMM............. WHAT IS THIS
