'There will be three tasks, spaced throughout the school year, and they will test the champions in many different ways ... their magical prowess - their daring - their powers of deduction - and, of course, their ability to cope with danger.'

The Triwizard Tournament is to be held at Hogwarts. Only wizards who are over seventeen are allowed to enter - but that doesn't stop Harry dreaming that he will win the competition. Then at Hallowe'en, when the Goblet of Fire makes its selection, Harry is amazed to find his name is one of those that the magical cup picks out. He will face death-defying tasks, dragons and Dark wizards, but with the help of his best friends, Ron and Hermione, he might just make it through - alive!

My. Favorite. Book. Of. All. Time! WHen I first read this a few years back, it was ok. I didn’t feel like it was an amazing book, just an important one in the story line. When I was ten, I didn’t really understand anything happening, but now, I feel like it’s much more realistic. It’s a competition, featuring all sorts of cheating, backstabs, rule breaking, lying to someone about how you feel to get information, tricks, bamboozle and manipulation, disguised as a friendly competition between three parties. Also, did I mention gambling was involved? It’s fine though. All of this was carefully hidden, so it’s one hundred percent kid friendly. It’s also quite an adventure for adults too. Just read the previous books first and you’ll be all caught up. Anyways, I guess the most important thing about this book is, well, it certainly is interesting. Do me a favor, read it and tell me what you think, alright? 4 stars

Jim Dale creates a superb narration for this magnificent series.
The Goblet of Fire is the fourth in this seven-part saga,
the first British fantasy novel ever to compare with Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.
And speaking of British, the UK audiobook is read by Stephen Fry
and is equally engaging and entertaining to Jim Dale’s version.
Highly recommended.

Jim Dale's narration is superb. The movie is good, but the audiobook is great. So much more depth and detail added to the story of Harry Potter's fourth year at Hogwarts. I'd seen the movie a couple of times, but I understand what's going on now that I've listened to the book. Highly recommended for tweens, teens, and adults.

I had no problems with the copy of the book that I checked out, though I admit with the really popular stuff it is a bit hit or miss on how well it will work. Usually, though, if you let the library know there's an issue with a disk(s) they will get them replaced.
